Literacy Month Comes to An End

March has been jammed packed with literacy, competitions, give aways, and all sorts of fun literacy activities. As the month ends and students begin their spring break, many will leave feeling as if they have accomplished a great deal. That is in fact, because they have!

The 8th grade reading team made up of seventeen 8th graders won the Student -Teacher Read Off. The 8th graders accumulated 317 points during the month of March.

Megan Samson was the winner of the iPod Shuffle. She was the top reader for the month of March. During literacy month she accumulated 124 AR Points. The iPod Shuffle was donated by Wade Flowers and State Farm Insurance. Two students, Sam Franklin and Keilah Coverstone, completed book reviews and qualified for a free personal pan pizza.

Noah Young was the winner of the monthly library drawing, also receiving a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Last, several students also received 2 free Hot Rod Baseball tickets for participating in the Hot Rods Reading contest.

The first annual literacy month at CCMS was a huge success. Way to go CCMS, but don't stop reading because literacy month has ended, continue to make reading part of your every day activities.

Until next time...Happy Reading!!!
